First Impressions: Zone of the Enders (PS2)
So I got Zone of the Enders as an end-of-year gift today. I'm an hour into the game and I love it. This is the kind of game Konami should be making more of, and I'm thinking more and more than ZOE3 is what's going to push me to buy a PS3 eventually. From what I can tell so far:
- ZOE is an awesome open-ended game with many side quests. You can choose to go through the game as fast as possible, or you can take your time and save the civilians (against your ship's will). This makes me believe there might be multiple endings. Typical Konami.
- As with any other Kojima game, there are a lot of lovely cinematics. Sadly, your character's voice will make your ears bleed. It's a whiny kid. Woo!
- The music is brilliant and it's really cool to end up hearing The Earth Light while playing through a mech game. It fits in so well.
- The game is most-likely rated M for Mature because it comes with the MGS2 demo, and not because it's ultraviolent. The biggest language I've seen in the game so far is "hell", which has been heard in many T-rated games before. (This is not the case for ZOE2.)
Yeah, it's awesome. Too bad you can't play as the Vic Viper in this one (although you can in ZOE2). I'll probably play a lot of this while waiting for 10th to get here.
