A Public Radio Companion
So I guess it isn't much of a secret that I like public radio. I've been listening to NPR content since last November via podcasts, and then moved on to This American Life, Radio Lab, and suchlike. After hearing so much raving about "The News From Lake Wobegon" podcast, I decided to listen in. It was pretty good, but upon reading around, it turns out said podcast is only a segment from Minnesota Public Radio's A Prairie Home Companion.
And as usual: there's no podcast for the full show. I guess it's understandable that MPR can't afford the bandwidth to get a huge amount of people downloading a two-hour radio show every week, but I really want to listen to the full show. Luckily for me, I've had some experience in coding together streamripper scripts, and I put together a script for A Prairie Home Companion. A couple minutes later, bingo: I had a working streamripper that only required a date for the show I wanted to download.
Now, I've listened to a few full episodes (listening to the June 30th right now), and I really like the full show. The only issue I had with it was the lack of album art. I like syncing it over to my iPod and listening to it there, but it doesn't fit in with my other podcasts and radio shows without album art.
So I grabbed Photoshop, headed over to the press page and grabbed a lovely cast picture, and made my own album art, and it turned out really really well.
Now it fits in fine. But waiting a week for a new episode is too long. >_>
